Question [Answered] Windows clean up

Hi People

I just want to ask if anybody can help me. I want to manually clean up computer files that no longer need to be there and so on but dont want to delete files that progs may be using (hope this makes sense)

Does anyone know of a web site that outlines the folders you can clean out, i know most you have to show hidden files. Eg i know nero copies all files you burn into a hidden folder and people that dont know this lose so much space due to it.

if there is no such site maybe someone out there can reply here for me, tbh i doubt there are that many files.

thanks
Steve

Hello Adreval,

Welcome to PCHF!

Well, not really because everybody is different, has different versions of windows, and different software installed on their PC. Installing and Removing software from your PC will (the majority of the time) leave some file, folder or setting left behind. If you want a 100% cleanup, then your option would be to format and install from scratch. If your like me, and you only do this if you really need to, then you can just cleanup the best you can. Windows Cleanup already does some of this, but this web site explains how to cleanup your PC of any unwanted files: The Office Experts - Clean Your PC

If there is a particular file or folder you want to delete, why not come back here and ask,

You can also follow PCHF Prework on my signature, and post your log's here at any time, to make sure your PC is clean of virus's and malware.
