Default ie7 shuts down my computer

Hi,

I've read about alot of problems with IE7 but I haven't been able to find any help with what I've got. Every time I open IE7 (I'm using firefox right now) the program encounters an error and shuts down. Then windows explorer encounters an error and my computer restarts. To make things worse my computer restarts every time I try to uninstall IE7 or if I try to download updates to IE7. In other words it is completely and thoroughly screwed up. Does any one know how I can get rid of this **** thing. Thanks.

Hi and welcome to PCHF

Are you using a third party toolbar such as Google toolbar?

Yes I do have a google toolbar? Should I get rid of that first? And thanks for the welcome.

Yes, un-install and re-install the Google toolbar and test.

So the uninstall on the google toolbar froze. I cancelled the uninstall but the program has been removed from my list of currently installed programs. When I opened up explorer the toolbar was gone and I was able to go to a couple of websites (nothing new). Then I tried uninstalling IE7 and my system shut down right after it hit the updating registry stage of the uninstall. So I'm not sure if I actually got rid of the google toolbar and I definitely still have the restarting pc problem.
