Default Bad_pool_caller BSOD

Hi all.

Was doing a scan with AVG when system crashed, had to warm boot using switch. Ever since been getting the Bad_pool_caller BSOD. All the usual mumbo jumbo, STOP @ 0x00c2. (0x043 caller corrupt) Does it everytime on windows boot and safemood boot. Running on a compaq pres laptop V5 with no new drivers/hardware installed. Managed to get Bart PE running but that can't find a Hard drive. Any suggestions on how to solve. I realise that im probs gonna have to settle with reformatting, as this is a ***** time for this to show up (could be kernal corrupt?) Can't debug or get into windows at all unless using boot disk, then it works fine which leads me to think it aint a memory error.

Thanks all!

CJ

Are you using Videum software?

What was the last software you installed?

Finally, are you overclocking?

Hi again.

Nope, no capture devices installed. Last peice of software was Office 07 Enterprise. Had many re-boots tho after installing that and was fine! Also, no overclocking.

Thanks

Sorry CJ, I'm unable to help you any further, we have hit a dead end!

We have ruled out all possibilites I'm aware of that will cause this problem, and we have no way to access Windows to do any troubleshooting. You may have been infected with malware, but I do have one final recommendation, which will involve using your Windows XP CD.

- Start your PC using this CD, and press -R- when prompted to enter the recovery console.
- Once you enter the recovery console, type chkdsk /f
- This process normally takes a few hours.

If you still have problems, try a repair installation, followed by a full reinstall if that fails too.
