Windows XP/2000 - [Fixed] task manager disabled by admin??? posted in the Operating Systems forums; heya guys, well, so im in windows, and i push ctrl+alt+delete, and it says, task manager disabled by administrator. i am administrator. what is going on. i guess perhaps you ...

heya guys,

well, so im in windows, and i push ctrl+alt+delete, and it says, task manager disabled by administrator. i am administrator. what is going on. i guess perhaps you guys might need a HJT log ? i dont know, but its rather frustrating. thanks (: (: (:

hrmm..i've seen this before and i don't think it was a virus...give me a minute and i'll look aroudn for you...can't remember off the top of my head.

ok...found a couple of methods...this looks easiest.

Start -> Run -> cmd ->
REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

For soem reason the post has a space in the middle of Policies...there is not supposed to be a space there....it looks like Pol icies, it should be Policies.

exactly word for word....be careful.

good good thanks gar. i havent tried that method yet, becuase i dont have my computer, but when i go back home, ill do it and letcha know how it goes.

I figured it was a virus or something because my friends computer did the same thing a while back, as it became a home for weary virus'.
