Default [Answered] Windows won't Boot following Build

Folks I need some help. I've done many builds and mods, but this is the first time I've switched platforms. The HDD is being recognized. My plan was to keep the operating system long enough to copy everything over to the new SATA drive installed. This IDE HDD has WIN XP SP/2 and came out of an earlier Intel based build that I am replacing.

The new build is Biostar TForce 6100 AM2, X2 +3800, 2gb OCZ, WD 160gb SATA, keeping old DVD CD IDE devices, and an even older FDD, (sentamental reasons, who knows why). For know, the old IDE HDD is installed and is also being recognized. The SATA is blank but also recognized.

All devices are being recognized in bios utility. The message is:

"Windows failed to start successfully......."

Am I overlooking something really stupid here? Need some help.

Thanks.

Hello PB

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Am I right in presuming you changed all the hardware before you installed that sata drive?

Yep, all new hardware was installed in the new case along with older HDD and IDE devices prior to hooking up the SATA. I plugged it in afterwards to see if it would be recognized. I did not run SysPrep prio to removing the IDE HDD out of the old system. I think that is my problem. If it is, I sure need some help to recover and get the system to boot up. As stated before, I have done swaps like this before with the exception of going from Intel based CPU to AMD. This is the first time for that.

If you have done this before then surely you will know that XP hates system wide hardware changes.
Did you want to transfer the OS or just normal files to this sata?
More on changing hardware well specifically the mobo here;
