Default [Resolved] blue screen

Hello
Problem when starting up PC its a dell dimension 1100, get this error on screen "
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Diasable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or back up utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, anf then restart your computer.

Technical in formation:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82372A50, 0x0000102, 0x00000000)"

have tried that all connections are in place and everything looks ok, have tried starting in safe mode, last known good configuration etc: but it always returns to blue screen with this error. Can I get into OS system somehow to dis-able or run a CHKDSK....Thanks for any help... also its XP home edition and there have been no hardware changes

Hello Irish, didn't realise you could not get past this screen.

You may be able to resolve this problem by using your XP Recovery CD. Start your PC with the CD inserted, and you will enter Windows Setup. When prompted, press R for Recovery. You will enter the recovery console.

Once you enter the recovery console, type chkdsk /f and let the scan take place. This can sometimes take a few hours. Once complete, reboot and see if you can boot normally.
