Question [Answered] Bookmarks & RSS feeds?

I'm sure to some these are basic simple questions ,but I'm easily confused & hungry for knowledge & not too proud to ask for help.

I have become well versed in organizing my "Favorites" to access my Internet info rather quickly.

But I do not understand what is the difference between "Bookmarks & RSS {XML??}Feeds " & how to use them .

Is there a difference between a "Bookmark" & a "Favorites" shortcut?

[I think there is a way to save a page to read later without saving a whole web site]

Could Y'all Define how ,where & when to use these tools .AND anything else pertaining to these subjects

I'm Pretty sure I'm missing out on a bunch of something here {LOL}

As always Thank You for your time & knowledge

Thanks in Advance

A 'bookmark' is just another term for a 'favorite'.

Taken from wikipedia:

RSS is a family of XML file formats for web syndication used by news websites and weblogs. They are used to provide items containing short descriptions of web content together with a link to the full version of the content. This information is delivered as an XML file called RSS feed, webfeed, RSS stream, or RSS channel.

PCHF has its own live bookmark or RSS Feed if you navigate to under 'Statistics and Info' on the left you will find a link to it.

I hope that helps,

Chris

Yes ,But a couple more questions.

The new IE 7 has a
RSS feed button I'm gonna assume that it will work just the same as one offered by the site/ forum.

Will this work if a site doesn't offer this & is it the same as marking the "instant e mail reply to post" ?

OK so the RSS would act as the Instant "E" on say a ongoing news letter or something like that?

Thanks for your time!!

1. I think there is a little logo that appears in the address bar when you can get an RSS feed from a site, similar to the one at the left - the forum link to our RSS feed.

2. If the site doesn't show anything about its RSS feed but the icon is there then most likely you can get one.

3. I suppose it can.
