I'm currently using GetDataBack for NTFS to recover my files arfter demoing a few different programs, this seemed to be the best. It recovered the data in the orginal state so the files and folders are all the same e.g. you can go into documents and settings <your user> my documents and they'll all be there. I used a free partition program to turn the raw 80GB into a partition also.
Once agian I'd like to thank you for your help GaRHaR, and I just want to take this oppertunity to say that I am extremly happy with the community at PCHELPFORUM.COM, it amazes me that almost no question goes unanswered and all the posts seem to be well structured and though out.

Yeah Luke!!

Thank you so much for keeping the thread up to date. Your problem, while unique in some ways, is more common than a lot of people would like in others. The fact that you were able to recover your files, and file system, will be a welcome bit of news for other users in your situation who are about to give up hope.

I'm so glad that you had a positive experience here at PCHF. We try very hard to make sure that our staff give the very best advice available no matter how computer literate someone is. We hope to see you around the forums, it's also a great place to learn, and that you will recommend us to your friends and family.

Heya Luke,

Glad to hear that it's going good.
Sorry I've only seen the post now, I've been out of action with a bit of gastro (it's floating around Perth atm).

I just wish I was able to suggest something a bit more solid for you to try. As successful as this was for yourself, and lucky that you hadn't overwritten the sectors on the hard drive with more files, it's not goign to be like this for everyone. But I'm extremely glad it's all sorted now.

See you around the forums!
