Default Dark Screen when windows opens

I haven't used my laptop in a couple of days and I had no problems with it the last time I used it, but i tried a few times to boot up my computer. The Sony Vaio screen that displays right before windows is bright, but when Windows boots up, the screen is very dark. I tried to boot up the computer in safe mode, but I get the same results. What is wrong with my computer? If you have any answers, please email me. Thank you.

Welcome to PCHF morgancat!

Look for the brightness controls on the actual monitor and see if you can put the brightness and contrast up.

Hello MorganCat,

Welcome to PCHF.

Also (when your in Windows), right click on an empty area of your desktop and go to Properties, Settings tab followed by Advanced. Your brightness and contrast settings can normally be found in one of these sections (depending on what graphics chipset you have onboard).
