Default [Fixed] start up freeze

Hi. I have tried looking for my similar help topic, but was unable to find anything similar, so I'm sorry in advance if this is a double post.

I am having trouble opening
, My Computer, when they are clicked on, nothing happens, nothing appears, or even when I click something in start menu, the start menu freezes. Other seem to work ( itunes etc) but are running very slow. When I boot into safe mode, my computer opens, IE opens, and everything is fine, so i think it may have something to do with booting into normal windows. I have tried system restore, has not fixed anything. I have run did not pick anything up.

I am using an
R51 with windows xp home

thanks for your help

Mmmm asking you to follow the instructions in PCHF PreWork in my signature may prove difficult.
Do you have the XP CD to hand?

im not sure if doing the prework order would do too much if everything works in safemode, and nothing works on regular boot, so i think youre right about that

This is exactly the point I make, as trying to download all the programs to get you back up and running would prove nearly impossible.
Would a complete re-install be out of the question?
