IT WORKS! I can't beleive it! I booted from my hard disk without a problem!! Thanks you so much Mad Monkey and LGW and everyone else that had an input into this! I feel so happy! If there is anything that you want me to show you that may have caused the problem, just let me know! Just realised, I have never actually visited this site from this computer! One quick question before I go... I have been using my housemates computer for the last couple of weeks, hes back tomorrow. Yesterday, it decided that it would stop going into stand-by, and when turning off, it stops at the 'Windows is shutting down' screen. Is this a common problem with an easy solution? Thanks again!
Nice to hear it Germanio, good work. just hit the Thanks button is enough for me and knowing that your up and running.
As your your housemates PC, it's normally software or malware (with XP) that prevents a PC from shutting down. Make sure no software has been installed, otherwise take the PC through PCHF Prework on my sig, and we'll get LGW or Valis to check you out for malware. Also double check the power options are still enabled (Control Panel, Power Options, "System Standby" dropdown box).
Madmonkey is certainly the genius we purport him to be. LOL. When you want to thank him, you give him bananas, like this:
You need to pat yourself on the back as well for learning as much as you did, and sticking with the process, even tho it took a long time. You did GREAT!! So here's a toast to you as well, Cheers M8.
We'll look forward to seeing you in the forum. Make sure to post your friends logs in a new thread in the HijackThis forum.
