Hi,
I went to a shop today and they tried to help me. The guy said he could put in a new drive, so he tried and failed. None of the drives he tried worked. The motherboard seemed to reject them and give "IDE #1 Error" at boot. He said there wasnt any more he could do for me. I dont think there is anything more to try, but if anyone can suggest anything, please do.

Could i put my hard drive into another computer and get my files off it or is that impossible?

Hey Guys,

@Wolfeymole - That thread kind of leaves Germanio up in the air, there is no remedy, and it presumes that he has a Toshiba laptop that is older than three years. Good find tho, at least we know this isn't a unique situation.

@Germanio - Sorry M8, we all have missed a very basic question, what is the make and model of your laptop? That will allow us to determine exactly what the IDE error means, and to find a resolution. Don't give up heart. Also, if all else fails, they yes, you should be able to connect your hard drive up and get the files off of it. I know MadMonkey can help you with that.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi!
I couldn't make sense of that thread, maybe i'm too stupid. Coincidently though, i do have a toshiba laptop that is more than 3 years old. Its a Satellite Pro A10 - Model No. PSA15E-01PFQ-EN. I saw the guy taking it apart so i know where the hard drive is and how to take it out.

Oh yeah, we couldn't get into the bios either. I had never tried to before, but according to the guy, its by pressing either F1 or F2 repeatedly i think.

Hey Germanio,

We have our user MadMatt to thank for this one,

And NO you are not stupid. That was a very complex thread, and it really didn't give you the answers you needed. Now that I have your info, (which I should have asked for ages ago. Duh on me. lol, we need a "Duh" smilie.) I can look up that error code and see if we can't get that CD player working.
