Default Problem with DVB-T Device Driver

I recently tried to install Pinnacle Systems Studio Plus Movie Maker. It uses a free standing USB video capture device. When I tried to use the product, it could not find the correct drivers for the video capture. I contacted Pinnacle’s technical support and they suggested downloading the most recent patch for their software (10.7) and reinstall; which I did and I am still having problems.

What happens is when I plug the video capture device in, somehow device manager loads a device driver called DVB-T. I believe this is because it is left over from when I installed ATI’s Wonder TV tuner card. When I see the problem, I use Device Manager (WIN XP Home SP2) to uninstall DVB-T. I have tried to completely uninstall anything and everything associated with ATI. I have completely uninstalled the Pinnacle Movie Maker product and used Pinnacle’s REGCLEAN program to rid the registry of any remnants of Movie Maker. I have also downloaded and used a program that claims to scour my entire system for any device driver associated with ATI. I used both of the ‘cleaning’ programs in safe mode. I have also tried to manually install the device drivers for the Pinnacle 710 video capture device directly off the distribution CD.

However, without even starting the Movie Maker program, I watch Sound, Video and game controllers in Device Manager when I plug the video capture device in, DVB-T BDA USB RECEIVER is loaded and not the Pinnacle drivers that are suppose to load.

I assume that I must find the program associated with DVB-T and delete it. However, so far I have been unsuccessful. Maybe, I am looking in the wrong direction for a solution. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey Guys,

@Sidewinder - My welcome to PCHF as well. I am so terribly sorry for the delay in getting to your post. I assure you that I will not allow that to happen again.

Let's try this and see if it helps. Please download CCleaner and RegSupremePro from my signature. Boot into Safe Mode, by constantly tapping the F8 key during bootup until either a menu pops up or a beep sounds, using your arrow keys to navigate to Safe Mode, and hitting Enter.

In Safe Mode, please run CCleaner. Make sure that all options are selected, including Advanced, answer OK or Yes to all warnings. Click on Analyze, then Run Cleaner. Repeat this process until either no further files appear, or the same files keep returning and are unable to be cleaned.

If some files cannot be cleaned, identify the files, navigate to their location, right-click on the files and choose Properties, uncheck Read Only, and manually delete the files. If some files will not delete, click on Properties again, this time click on the Advanced Button, and then the Security Tab. Identify yourself as the owner of the file, then attempt to delete them again.

Next click on Issues, Scan for Issues, then Fix Selected Issues. You can name the backup file today's date. Let it fix everything that it finds. Repeat this process until no further issues are detected.

Next run RegSupremePro, it will want to make a backup of your cache, let it. Click on the Registry Cleaner tab, and select Aggressive. When it has finished, click on Select, and choose All. Click on Fix, and allow it to fix everything that it finds. Repeat this proceedure until no issues are detected. If something cannot be fixed, please post that information back here.

Now still in Safe Mode, try to install your Pinnacle software.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
