Tech Info

Ok, a little history to help you guys help me.

I'm trying to make a super tiny WinXP install using nLight. I only need to run two programs, one of them being drive image 2002. I'm trying to get a win install under 400mb. I think this is a realistic goal. The first time using nLight I removed all components as an experiment and to my surprise everything worked well and I was able to install all the apps I needed except drive image 2002. I got an install shield driver error, So I thought, "time to go back to the nLight drawing board"

I went back and added components I thought might allow me to install Drive Image. But now I get the above blue screen. I've been going back and forth making WinXP DVD-R's for the past 2 days. Finally after almost going through a 50 pack I went out and picked up a few DVD-RW lol

Anyways, after many attempts, I'm coming here to ask for help. nv4_disp sounds like a nVida display driver to me, So I went to the web site and downloaded the latest driver, went into safe mode and installed that. That didn't work, Same blue screen. I'm running out of ideas.

The whole idea is to have dual boot WinXP. One WinXP fully loaded and tweaked and the other, a very striped down ver that I can boot into to work on the main one.

I don't know the "exact" cause. I just kept trying different combinations of windows components and drivers within the nLite UI. I finally came up with a combo that worked. Kind of hit or miss. Man did I go thru a ton of DVR-R's before going out and picking up a DVD-RW.

I finally ended up with at stripped down winXP install of 360mb. I disabled the page file and resized the partition to 400mb. I just wanted a little mini XP install to work on my main OS from time to time.

I looked into the bartPE but it was not quite user friendly enough for me. I would have needed to make my own plugin for the app I wanted to run. But I think I will play around with bartPE on the side.

I always appreciate the help I receive here and also help others when the opportunity strikes.
