Default PC freezing all the time.

Okay, my computer has been bothering me for a while now. I have run countless scans with spybot, xoftspy, and Ad-Aware, and it still won't fix this.

The basic problem is that my PC randomly freezes whenever I run just about any program. Just about every game freezes, youtube freezes, flash player freezes (for this game called N) and even RealPlayer to name the ones that interfere with me the most.
Some Specs..
Nvidia 6600
2.20 GhZ
1 gig of ram
AMD Anthlon XP 3200+

I could really use any type of advice..and Im not that keen on how to do certain things on my PC, so for ease of my comprehension, I ask that you keep the instructions extremely easy to understand.

I really need help with this, and thank you to all hopefull responders.

Hi Kenny, welcome to the PC Help Forum.

First thing I would like you to check is the temperatures of your Video card...
Right click on the desktop and select Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> geforce 6600 -> Temperature

What's the temp say?

48 degrees, and green if color matters.

Yup, Green means good!

When your computer freezes...does it eventually restart...or just "stop"? When it happens again - push the num-lock button, and tell me if the light goes on and off.

It just stops, and doesnt respond. I tried hitting numlock, nothing. No light, nada. CTRL-ALT-DEL? nothing. I just hold the power button, wait 10 or so seconds, restart.
Also the other day tried leaving the power completely off for about 12 hours, give or take..and no change.

No problems.

Ok - lets try memory....can you download Memtest86 - Memory Diagnostic Page - it's a small program
fits on either a floppy disk or CD...
boot off either one...and test your memory.

It will take around 40 minutes to complete i believe..
Remove all your memory from your computer and put in just 1 at a time for this purpose.

Okay, downloaded it, but not sure on a few things.
First, what program will make the CD I need?
I just tried Sonic Record Now, which is what I use to burn things onto, but when I re-load the CD..it doesnt auto-boot or whatever.
The disk is a CD-R, that is the right kind..right?

And when you say remove all my memory...is that a thing the program does or is this actually physically taking it out by force?
