Default Blue Screen of Death? Please read before posting error

Blue Screen of Death - Prework

When you receive a Blue Screens of Death (Blue Screen of Death), a dump file is normally saved to the hard drive. The dump file provides us with valuable information about what was happening at the time the crash occurred, what was happening in memory, and was applications were running as well as error codes that give us much more information that you would normally see in a Blue Screens of Death.

To help analyse your problem, attach that dump file to your posts.

Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer and click on the System section.
- Look for event 1001, which should have the following information:

Event ID: 1001
Source: Save Dump
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was ?
...A dump was saved in:....... Note the path

How to Attach a Dump File in PCHF

When it comes to your reply, below the "Quick Reply" message box, click on: "Go Advanced"

The advanced screen will give a "Reply to Thread" screen with more options. Click on the attachment icon: and a Manage Attachments window will appear.

Under the section "Upload File from your computer", click on the first Browse... button, and a Choose file window will appear.

Click on the "My Computer" icon on the left hand Window, double click on your local (c) drive, followed by "Windows" and continue your way through the files and folders shown in your Event Log. The file your looking for normally starts with "mini..". Once you find the file, double click on it to return to the Manage Attachments window.

Under the "Upload File from your computer", click on the Upload button, and you will then see your file appear under the "Current Attachments" section. Once you have done this, click on Close this window at the top right hand corner of the screen.

Post a few if you can, as this will help us identify more accurately where the problem is most likely to be.

What if you don’t have any 1001 Events?
These are normally enabled by default.

To enable them:
- Go to My Computer, Control Panel, System followed by Advanced tab.
- Under “Startup and Recovery”, click Settings.
- Under “System failure”, make sure Write and event to the system log is ticked.
- Under “Write debugging information”, make sure Small Memory Dump is selected.
