I was trying to get opinions on different chipsets for the USB2 and Firewire. I personally have had nothing but trouble with VIA chipsets. The best seems to be NEC and ali is ok to. But I have had 3 VIA PCI USB2/Firewire cards that work terribly on Camcorder for Video and the USB2 would freeze the computer when you moved large amounts of data, not mention slowly; I've had this problem with at least 3 different motherboards which some had VIA chipsets in them.Yet, it is hard to find chipsets like NEC or ALI. You only see VIA anymore. I definitely will not buy any VIA chips on ebay. Are newer VIA chipsets any better?

Hello Rayi, sorry for the late response.
When you say chipset - do you mean the northbridge chip? Because i only ever see VIA or nForce chipsets these days. I have a nForce4 chipset with 8 usb2 ports (never use firewire) and never have any of the issues your talking about. In regards to moving data slowly...this is bound to happen - USB2 is nowhere near as fast as a hard drive - especially SATA or SATA2 hard drive...
