Windows XP/2000 - how to boot OS from CD? posted in the Operating Systems forums; Hello, how to do, that computer would be booted from CD? what i need to click/select when my PC is starting? Thank you....

Why would you need to boot from cd? Or is this installing XP?

I need to change windows xp admin password and have CD with Linux program which must be booted when computer starts. I know that it's something with BIOS...

To boot from CD press F9 when your computer is starting up.
This should bring up a menu with an option "Select First Boot Device" or something along those lines.
Select that and then choose CDROM

I think thats right...

To change your boot settings:

Enter the bios by pressing a key (normally F2 or DEL on the post screen - the first screen that comes up after booting - it may be different depending on your bios).

The look for an option called boot settings or order and select the first item, and change to your cd-rom.

Then go to exit and exit saving changes and click yes.

That should work.

@mintedjo: that depends on the pc.

@upgrader764: O rly? I just assumed it would be same on a most pcs cos mine my brothers and my mums all do that.
