I'm trying to boot to safe mode to do some maintenance, but when i press F8 on startup i get the boot device selection menu instead.
What's up with that?

Hi gbudsefm...alot of computers have this option.
You're most likely pushing F8 too early...if you wait until you see the square created out of = symbols...that's where you push F8
