Question USB problem - MP3-player not recognized - please help!

Have a Tangent rider MP3 player that is recognized on any XP-pc except my own - it's totally impossible to mount it.

I've tried to dedicate the drive letter that it is mounted with on other computers. That did not help either.

When I look at the assigned USB-driver it is called Bonifay.sys. This driver came once with an external disk from Freecom. I've tried to remove this driver by renaming it and hoping that the ordinary XP-drivers that are there, would take it's place. But unfortuneately it did not work. I had to rename it back again to make my USB-devices function. So there I am - disillusioned.

Can anyone give me a tip to get further?

Thanks! XP puts it in the list of USB-devices as Unknown. When I examine the drivers, only the Bonifay.sys driver is listed. (All the other USB-drives has a set of different drivers - name usually started with usb.. (usbhub.sys/usbstor.sys etc) That is why I suspicious of this Bonifay.sys driver.

Yes, I've read it. And it has nothing to do with the drive letter. I've even freed the letter F: that it mounts with my other computer, but even that did not help.

have you tried changing your dvd rom drive to Z and mounting it as another drive letter? I dont know if a diffferent drive letter is going to help one way or another.

Go into your device manager click uninstall and reboot. See if it picks it up

I removed the unknown entity from the device manager and it did not pick it up after rebooting.
