Default [Resolved] Win XP Home dll and exe fixes

I just upgraded my MB and CPU. I can’t seem to boot up other than in safe mode. As soon as I get as far as the Windows logo, it restarts and gives me the options screen. No options outside of safe mode will work.

I thought maybe I just needed a clean windows, but I can’t even boot from two installation cd’s.

I tried booting with and without the vga, that does not seem to be a factor. I tried removing the MB battery to reset the cmos. Nothing. The CPU appears to be running at a normal temperature.

Hi dpu,

Welcome to PCHF.

I'm sorry to say that upgrading your motherboard, generally requires re-installation of Windows. You can upgrade your CPU, RAM, graphics card and any other component without re-installing, but not your motherboard unless it is very very similar in make, model and components.

What happens when you use your XP installation CD?

I thank you for your reply. I can't seem to be able to boot up using a CD. I have tried having only the cd plugged in and two different Windows CD's. I have hit F8 and chosen the CD drive to boot from.
Thanks Again, Dan

When trying to boot up from XP CD, it tries (Blinking Curser) and then it goes to the safe mode options

Hey dpu, you may need to set the boot priority to your CD-ROM drive from BIOS. It's different between systems, but you should normally press [DEL] or [F2] to enter BIOS.

Once there, look for your Boot Priority, and make sure your CD-ROM is first. Example here:

Once that is done, you will then be able to boot from CD. Some systems will ask to press a key to startup with CD.

This did not work. I have even had the cd drive as the only option. If the HD is not attatched and the CD drive is, I get a message asking me to put a disk in bootable device. If I have both hooked up and the CD as the primary boot device, I get a screen that says A previous attept was interupted due to a power failure or becuase the power or rest button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode With Networking
Safe Mode with command prompt.

Thanks Dan

Na, you won't end up with the menu options when it starts booting to CD, you'll have Windows Setup instead.

Are you sure your using the full version of Windows XP, and not a copied version, or upgrade version?
