Default IRQ problem

I am battling this Infinate loop problem, I may have found a problem?
OS is XP Pro
My GS7600 AGP video card and Sound blaster card are both using the same IRQ 11. Could have sworn the V-card was IRQ 16 hmmm.
I went to start to Help and Support then to tools and there was a bunch of info on my machine. Looked under conflicts and saw the following

IRQ 11 NVidia, Creative SB X-Fi
however, Status was OK for both

Memory address: 0xA0000-0XBFFFF
Intel R 82845 Processor to AGP controller 1A31
VGA save

I/O port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB
Intel R 82845 Processor to AGP controller 1A31
VGA save

I/O Port 0x000003C0- 0x000003DF
Intel R 82845 Processor to AGP controller 1A31
VGA save

I am not sure what to make of this info, but does anyone have any idea what it all means? Also, How to change an IRQ for a device and have it work afterwards?

Hi Db,

Your Video Card is obvoisly in the AGP slot. You sound card must be in the PCI slot next to the AGP slot.

The AGP slot and the first PCI slot usually share the same IRQ. Most (not all) devices use an IRQ. If both cards need one, then you would need to move your sound card to another PCI slot. If your showing "No Conflicts", it would suggest your sound card isn't using IRQ, and therefore your PC is fine!

Mad Monkey thanks for your reply.
AGP has the video card Next one down is the 2.0 and firewire cardPCI , then the sound card PCI, and the bottom card is where I plug in my lan cable PCI.
I just pulled out the Nvidia driver 93.71 and checked again, Nvidia was sure enough gone, but the sound card moved to IRQ 22 from IRQ 11, wierd? A video controller occupies IRQ11 now
I upgraded my PSU from a 300W to 500W Enermax Liberty, changed it out and checked my wiring, put it back in an now it takes about 10 min to finish the boot from the Windows Progress bar to the Welecome display,
Any suggestions
thanks

Hi DB, so your sound card does use an IRQ. *Some* IRQ's can be manually changed either in Device Manager (Resources Tab, untick "Use Automatic Settings" if available), or in BIOS. There may have been a conflict there if the IRQ's have been reassigned. You can get a clear view of your IRQ's in Device Manager, click View, Resources by Type, and you can see a section called "Interrupt Request". IRQ's 1 - 15 should only have one device associated with it.

Slow startup is normally caused by media. If you remove any CD's, USB storage devices e.t.c. and reboot. Is this the only symptom?

Device manager was looked at and as of yesterday, for the sound card was IRQ22 and a VGA controller was 11. I uninstalled the NVidia driver for now.
As for the power and progress from windows progress bar to welcome display I took a something out of the DVD drive but same problem exist.

It's normally media. When you first start up your PC and go to My Computer, does it take a while for it to appear?

If not, there are quite a few other possible problems that could cause this. One such problem could be malware related (follow PCHF Prework on my sig), or a registry problem. What was the last thing that happened before this problem started? (Installed/Uninstalled software maybe?).
