That's it really. We had a power outage, and now when I turn it on it gives me a few options (Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Last Working Configuation, Start Windows Normally, etc.) I've tried all these and they all lead me back to the same page.

I'm running XP, P4 HT 3.0 GHz, 160 GB, 1024 MB RAM.

Help! Finals are coming up tomorrow and I need some files off of it.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this.

Sorry for the late reply SuperFLYGuyO, but unfortunately as we're a free forum, the staff here volunteer their time and only when it's spare.

You may have to do a repair install of windows - which won't remove any of your files.
If you have the windows CD - it will take about 40 minutes. I'd suggest this is your first line of action to take.

Sounds good. I'll have to look for it. Is it rather easy, to make sure all my files stay in tact? Can I somehow get into Windows and just do a restore?

And thanks for your time and help. This forum has helped me out of a few jams, so I think I'll donate. It is the season of giving, right?

Alright, I can't find a Windows XP Home Edition CD. I just found a Restore DVD that came with my desktop.

Is that it? It only has Works 8, Money 2004, MSN Encarta, and Picture It! listed.

Sometimes, these 'restore dvd's' give you access to the windows xp system restore before windows is loaded or attempted to load, so you may be able to try it.
