Default [Answered] Internet Connection problems after recent Windows update

Hi everyone, I hope this is in the right place. It's a little confusing to explain, but the problem itself is probably an easy one to solve for you pro's out there.

Ok so basically I received a Windows update the other day, and this particular one updated Internet Explorer. Keep in mind I don't use Explorer as my main browser, I use Firefox.

Anyhow since then some strange things have happened with my internet connection. I use dial up, and for whatever reason the connection would disconnect whenever I tried to print an alignment page for my printer, very strange.

And also normally when I lose my connection I had it setup to where it just starts to dial again right away, for some reason it doesn't do that anymore, I just get this connection box I never use that gives me the option to connect.

What's went wrong here? If you need any more details just ask and I'll describe as best as I can.

Hi Jerry,

Unfortunately Dial-up isn't my strong point anymore as i haven't used it for a very very long time.

I honestly don't think i've ever used it in Windows XP.

perhaps one of the other team members will be able to give you a hand.

So any helpers?

I understand if no one knows, it's sort of confusing. Looks like I lose my connection whenever I use my printer now, that makes no sense. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it, if not I'm sure I'll figure it out somehow, thanks.

Hi Jerry

Welcome to PCHF

Have you made sure that the "Always dial my default connection" box is ticked?
Are you aware that on most dial up packages you will get disconnected every two hours or so anyway?

I'll check that out and check it if it's not checked already.

As for disconnection every so often I'm aware of that, that's not the issue I'm experiencing though. Thanks.
