Default [Answered] oem xp

When i bought this pc just over a year ago from local pc shop it had xp pre installed on it which i then found out to be a copy,when i tried to download microsoft antivirus.After taking it back he installed a different copy but that too was not genuine.I left it at that as it still worked ok but is now getting embarrasing having the wga notification coming up everytime.My partner phoned the shop but after arguing with her he basically said he would'nt give us a legit version but if we took the pc back again he would install a different copy for £70 which i dont want to do as i dont trust the swine.
Having checked the price of full new home ed(£170-200)i came across the oem versions to which i've had conflicting reports of being illegal.
in need of some help as although i would like legit os i cannot afford £200 so advice on oem's and this problem in general would be very much appreciated.

Go back to the shop and tell him you want a full refund on all monies paid.
Tell him also that you will be reporting him to Trading Standards, more here;
Trading Standards Central - Trading Standards and Consumer Protection information for the UK
Tell him if he does not comply then you will take him to court.
I would suggest contacting Microsoft as to their authorised dealers in that area.

He ripped you off Dave, don't have any feelings when you go back to this merchant.
You also, I feel, have a case under the Sale of Goods Act 1979.
More here.

Definitely report him to Microsoft, if you purchased the computer with a Win XP os it should have been a legal oem version...

Your most welcome Dave.
If you can let us know how you went on so we can combat other unscrupulous dealers.
Good luck.
