Default [Answered] flashing the bios trouble

I am trying to update the bios on my system,
I have the Intel download on a floppy disk.
When I try to boot with the floppy in the drive, I get a message saying
remove disk or media and hit any key. When just hi any key, it repeats itself.
I put the floppy out and and hit the key and it boots normally without installing the update.
What should I be doing?
thanks

Hi DB,

May I ask, why you would want to update your BIOS? This is a dangerous process so I wouldn't recommend doing this unless you absolutely need to.

He does need to... he wants to upgrade his video-card on an older Intel Mobo.

DB... it sounds to me as though you have a bad floppy disc-- when you downloaded and installed the file--

you used a brand-new floppy-- not something with previous data on it ?

Did you format the disc?

if you have more NEW discs around try using one of them.

when you load the file onto the disc-- you unzipped them in the process, right ?

Hi DB,

Before copying the software onto disk, make sure the floppy disk is bootable. Go to My Computer, right click on 3 1/2 Floppy (A) and go to Format. Make sure "Create MSDOS startup disk" is ticked.

Just to make sure I have this down correct
I formatted the disk before putting on the bios upgrade
I have a extracted version and an unexstracted version.

I should do the following
combine the bootable disk files with the bios upgrade files then shut off, boot up with that floppy already inserted in the drive.
With this proceedure I need to really understand so I do not mess up the Mobo
Gentlemen, thanks so much for your help and I await your reply
