Default [Fixed] Help Help Help!!!!!!! Please

Today, at random, my labtop quit booting all the way. It does turn on, run through the BIOS, etc. But after the "Windows XP" boot screen comes up, the screen goes black, it is still receiving a signal, but it is black. Now it doesn't go through the window xp boot screen it just turns black. Please help im desprate. is there any way it can be fix without loosing and information i have saved on my laptop.

Hi Kitty

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Well it looks to me like the screen panel lighting bulb as died which can be expensive to replace.
To make definately sure, hook it up to an external moniter, if you get a picture you know it's the screen.
One last thing, and I suppose you've tried this anyway, is crank the brightness up. If that does not work well...........................

P.S. Your programs, Folders etc will all still be there don't worry on that aspect.
