Default Weird internet issue

Hey, i have a internet/browser/connection issue which is driving me nuts because i feel im pretty computer savvy and i cannot figure this out.

Recently when i try accessing web pages via IE and Opera, its beginning to really lag and load extremely slow as if the web site it self is under a DDoS attack. Multiple sites i try to access, all feel this way, including this site, im lucky i was able to access this. I have to constantly refresh to get the site to load.

Here is where it gets weird, even when trying to access my router page, http://192.168.1.1 , even THAT loads slow and pictures in the router pages don’t load, acting as if it was a real web site which is laggy, but yea its only a local box so what the hell is going on.

Here is where it gets weirder, my internet speed is FINE, i download @ 2MB/s and up @ 400k+

I’m using Windows XP SP2 with all updates
No firewalls running @ all, i am not infected with anything
and this is a RECENT issue, i never had anything like this
its driving me nuts because when i try to go to a site it stalls, including google, in IE it would say "finding site google.com....." and it takes for ever and i have to keep refreshing.

It may be a DNS resolving issue? I don’t know, if anyone has any ideas please let me know

also, same issue on other pc's on the network, pages act same as if they were being attacked.

I've reset router, bypassed router, reset modem, it would work normal for few seconds, then back again to the laggy site and taking for ever to get into router page.

So please, someone let me know what they think, thanks a lot!

I experienced the exact same problems a few months ago. I messed about in the router settings and accidently altered my username that I connect to my ISP with. I didn't have it written down anywhere so I had to phone them up to get it. As soon as I entered it again my connection went back to normal and has been fine ever since.
I had previously tried resetting router etc but nothing worked. I too had a normal speed for downloads. I was about to buy a new router as I was sure that was the problem.
Sorry I am not much help but just to let you know you are not alone.
