Default [Answered] BSOD Stop error 0x00000024...

I have a BIG problem, and I think my computer isn't going to be able to recover from this. I have a notebook computer from Gateway, the system the other day got a BSOD that occured on startup of the computer. It never happened before. Now, it just loops in the BSOD restart mode. LKGC doesnt work, safe mode (all types) dont work. The error is:

0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xF99D080C, 0xF99D0508, 0xF936C1FC)

Ntfs.sys Address 936C1FC base at F935F000, Date stamp 41107eea

It gives some directions like deactivating antivirus software and running CHKDSK /f, but I can't get into my system to do that.

I've used my recovery CD, and it gets as far as "starting windows xp" then goes to start, and ta da....BSOD again!

Is my notebook computer only good for skeet shooting now? HELP!!! Please anyone. Thanks!

Hello Confused

Welcome to PC Help Forums

Well it does look confusing doesn't it?

Ok, as soon as the laptop powers up, and I mean straight away, keep hitting F1, Del or what ever key gets you into the BIOS.
If you have never been into the bios it may look a little daunting but don't worry.
You may have to look in the Advanced section to disable the Anti Virus, do that and press F10 or whatever key it say to "Save and Exit".
Don't change any other settings at all.
Re-boot tapping F8 which as you know should get you into Safe Mode.
Let us know how you get on

I've done that before, and in the BIOS there is no area titled "antivirus". So I have no way to disable it. As for F8, safemode does not work, it goes to BSOD immediately. Thanks for the suggestion though. Any other ideas would be helpful. Thanks again.

The only other thing I would suggest is slaving the hdd to another machine using a laptop IDE converter and pulling your stuff off it then putting it back and formatting it.

Thanks again. I'm not sure if you are understanding the situation. The computer does not boot in any mode at all. There is no way to the C prompt. You said to slave the drive to another computer...how would I do that and have the computer be recognized by the other computer when I can't even get it to boot? It goes in a constant circle of methods of startup options and then BSOD to restart all over again. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I really would like an answer to this problem.
On your last reply you put to go into BIOS and deactivate "antivirus"...where is the antivirus option located. I did not find it in mine at all. I looked everywhere possible in the BIOS. Anyway...thanks again.

The reason I suggested slaving it to another pc is that when it was in another pc it would NOT be the C drive, ergo it would not boot.
You could then retrieve your files.
However, if I am not understanding you, and you feel you would like an answer "that you could really use" then feel free to ask other members.
