Default [Resolved] Laptop Running slow

Hey guys. Thanks for any replies in advance.
My laptop has been running kind of slow recently. When i got it, it was running about 50+ processes start from startup. And it was fine with that, Most of them are toshiba utilities etc. But recently its been kind of slow. When i play music explorer runs really slow and if i click on a song it takes ages just to be highlighted and even longer just to play. I noticed it did this when i had my videos file open. I found that one of the videos i made hadn't been written correctly and was corrupted, so used Suredelete to delete it. But things are still running quite slow....
Any ideas why?
Cheers
P

Hey poppiu!
My welcome to PC Helpforum!

Can you provide us some specifications of your laptop?
And, what operating system are you running on it.

For a start, you can go 'Start' -> 'Run...', type 'msconfig', and click OK.

Then, under the start-up tab, untick everything that you consider unnecessary to run at the start-up of your computer.

You may need to use Google to find information about processes that you don't recognize.

Blue

Hey,
Its a Toshiba Qosmio F30 Dual Core, 1.66GHz, 1GB Ram, Its on XP.
I took most of the 'uneeded' processes off startup. But it was still the same. So ive put them back on as i found out i do use them quite alot. Its an entertainment laptop, so im constantly plugging in new devices and upoading stuff.
Cheers

The computer runs The defragment tool daily, along with virus, spyware, adware scanners etc.
Toshiba sent me a diagnostic tool, Which checks all the internal things like Core temp etc. I did say that the temp was high, (the fan settings were set lower than default) So have turned up the fans to maximum, and now everything is cool. Still running slow tho
Cheers for your reply

Hey, A friend came and looked at the computer. And there was a program that uses all of the process speed, but it mixes with explorer or something?
Anyway, Its fixed now...
so you can mark this thread as fixed...
