Default installing xp file problems

Right okay.

My brother just got a new computer today. Right when i go to copy the files just after the format screen it says that it cannot find a file on the disk. The disk is scratch free nothing on it at all. So i'm forced to press cancel and canel the ones that it cannot copy. WHen it gets to setting it up. It says it can't find a file on the disk yet again, but when i click browse it's there and stuff. So yet again i cancel installing the file. When i get onto the windows desktop, i go to install something but it says a process is not running right. Also some other things say i dont have admin power, i checked in user accounts says i'm a computer administrator. So i'm guessing its something to with those files that didn't install right.

I've just tried a repair as i couldn't think of anything else and i couldn't do anything either. But one file that didn't copy right won't let me repair windows at the setup says cannot continue.

Thanks

Did you set the bios to boot from the cdrom as the first boot device?
