Default Is there a conflict between AOL/McAfee?

Hi...my XP has been very slow to start up. I've run disk cleanup and defrag..I have McAfee and also AOL security. Could there be a conflict with the two? Also, when I swtich from one screen to another it disappears in sections..I've removed programs that I'm not using and also taken off most of my pictures that I had stored. I've tried reading some of the other 'slow start' forums and what is recommended refers to things I'm not familiar with. What is Hijack?
Thanks again for your help..

Hi Shirley,

Yes, security software do conflict with each other, but the full McAfee security suite does take a bit of time to load up on it's own. I would recommend only running one firwall (Windows Firewall, Mcafee or AOL, preferably McAfee), one Anti-Virus and one Anti-Spyware.

I would have thought there would be no conflicts with AOL and Mcafee as if you goto Keyword: Antivirus you can get a free trial that is recommended by AOL of Mcafee Virusscan and then pay £2.50 a month for it. (personally i wouldnt do this anyway).
