Exclamation Cannot delete file. :O

So i have this file, its actuall a .daa file

gunxsword(01-26 complete).part01.daa

its sitting in a folder on my desktop, it everything else from the folder. This one file wont die. when ever i try to delete it its about 3 seconds before this pops up.

cannot delete gunxsword(01-26 complete).part01.daa it is in use by another person or program

close and programs that might be using the file and try again.

not even if i turn off my comp and turn it back on(to be certain the file isnt being used) it still wont be deleted.

Ive also looked though task manager for a process that might be connected to it but still nothing

i unistalled the program i used to open the file. power dvd or something like that.no luck.

any ideas? please help. this file is 1gig in size and im kind of tight for space.

hey trigunner,

did you try to delete the file in safe mode?

you can get in safe mode by pressing f8 when the pc boots up

hope this helps

Those files are usually associated with ISO files or programs that run virtual cd's or dvd's. It might be as simple as ejecting the image from the virtual drive. But if not, try hitting ctrl+alt+del ( I am assuming you are running windows xp ) and running through the processes tab, if you do not really recognize the program name then try ending the process. Each time you end a process, try deleting the file. If you cannot figure it out from there. Another solution might be to click your start button and go to run, then type 'msconfig' and go to the startup tab. I personally have nothing going at startup and I highly recommend doing the same. But if you see any alien programs then disable them and click apply followed by ok. Restart and see how it goes from there. If everything else fails and you really want that file gone you can simply format your entire hard drive. Not only will that get rid of that file, but all the other files from a-z will be gone as well. It is always fun starting fresh. Good luck!
