Windows XP/2000 - ??? why has the computer suddenly decided not to show the CD drive ??? posted in the Operating Systems forums; hey guys ma computer was workin fine until i shut it down n turned it on agen, still taking like 3hrs to do that but i found a way round ...

hey guys

ma computer was workin fine until i shut it down n turned it on agen, still taking like 3hrs to do that but i found a way round it, i jus hibernate it now lol, but ma new problem is that the computer suddenly decided not to show the CD drive in the "my computer" window
n it jus decides not to read the discs i put in ( new game i got ) even if i go to start>>run>>D:\autorun.exe it just shows

"d:\ refers to a location that is unavailable. bla bla bla"

any help wud b appriciated thaks

Hi oli...

Basically the first thing you need to do is restart...sure it might take '3hours' but it will reconnect all your drives on logon.

the second thing you need to do, is explain why it takes so long to boot up, and we should be able to help you out with that too

hey it takes 3 hours to boot up n i posted on here bout a week ago about it but i didnt hav chance to reply so they declared it fixed lol "http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-xp/24102-fixed-helllpppp.html"

hey i tried restarting it last night, but it still not showing up, iv taken the side of the case of to make sure its phisicly connected, and when i press the eject button it does work n the lights ther ect. but it just doesnt wanna show in the "my computer" window and it doesnt work with start>>run>>D:\
