Default [Fixed] Problem after fixing another...

Today I got an error saying windows can't start because system32\config\system is missing or corrupt.

I fixed that but now when I turn on my PC it gives me the option of safe mode or start windows normally, both of them just give me a black screen so I am stuck. Also, the repair thing from the windows disk is now asking me for an admin password which I don't know, I have tried 0000 and just pressing enter plus any other password I would have used.

Hi Vamp, welcome to PCHF, if you have a Windows XP CD, you could perform a Repair Install. You will need to go into your PC's BIOS (usually Del or F2 when your PC starts) and set the CD Rom as the first boot device. Insert your XP CD into the drive and exit the BIOS making sure you save the settings. Once rebooted you will see a blue screen that says "Welcome to Windows XP Setup", and be given options. To further assist you im going to point you to this link:

After I agree to install, it doesn't give me the option the repair, only to delete or create.

Umm I don't think I did, after I agree to the licence thingy, I am meant to select the OS to repair, but it is only giving me the option to create or delete.

...Unless I have overlooked something very obvious.
