Default Outlook Express Problems

I use Windows XP Home and Outlook Express. Recently I have been experiencing problems with Outlook Express. Most often, when I receive an email from someone on my contact list their response and/or attachment is blank and I can't retrieve it.

I have not made any changes to the settings to outlook express and was hoping someone could assist this old man solve this problem or direct me in the right direction.

The only idea that I could have is that you need to delete any previously recieved emails that you do not need, also be sure to empty your recycling bin. It also could be user error on behalf of the person who sent the email, perhaps the sender's box is full as well. My last idea is that a firewall is limiting what is being sent to your outlook. Those ideas may not be the best of help. Good luck!

Welcome back ballycliffe.

Best thing to do would be try another program such as Mozilla Thunderbird

If this works, and Outlook Express doesn't - then we have found an issue with OE and can figure out, if it doesn't work there's something else goign on and if you've changed nothing then it's at your ISP's end...either that or virus/spyware.

Hi ballycliffe:

I agree with GaRHaR that you would be better served switching to Mozilla Thunderbird for your email client.

In the meantime, here is one setting try checking to see if it is active, and if it is you can turn it off and it may, I say may, solve your problem.

Open Outlook Express and select the Tools menu. Next click on Options and then click on the security tab. Is there a checkmark in the box labeled "Do not allow attachments to be saved......"? If so, clear the check, close Outlook Express and restart the program and check if you can now get to the email attachments.
