Default Control panel/display problem

I have a family picture set for wallpaper/background and tried to change to another jpeg file, and discovered that display properties has no tabs, so cannot change wallpaper, screen saver, color properties. Also, browsing for another "theme" requires *.theme files instead of jpeg or other picture files. It was working okay a couple of months ago. Thanks for help

Hi warnpeace, welcome to the pchf!

when there is missing tabs in windows, it generally means you're not an administrator on that pc.

Are you logged in as an administrator account?

hello, warn... you need to be under the administrator account or be a user with rights to change a setting. it sounds like whoever is the primary account user on that pc has not givin u the rights to make such a change. talk with whomever in your home is the primary user.

Thanks for your fast reply. I was able to replace the background picture by right click/Set picture as background. Actually, mine is the only user account and it specifies that I am the administrator. A month ago this PC would not stay up and I finally restored to a week previous and am wondering if the Display Properties became clobbered during the 24 hours I was trying to get it going. Thanks again, Joseph!

Thanks for the welcome, and for the fast reply! Yes, my user ID specifies that I am the system administrator and I am the only user. Well, my wife uses, but does not have an account. I was able to replace the picture by right click/set as desktop background. Still no tabs. Oh, I see that my reply to Joseph is before me - I have to learn about threads! Thanks, GaRHaR.

I missed something (new user!). How did my problem get marked "Resolved"?

Warn,
Try to find an updated verison of drivers for you video card. sometimes that will give you the tabs back as well.
