Wierd Screen Error
I hope someone can help me with this: I was playing Neverwinter Nights, when my computer froze and the screen developed red lines all over it... I rebooted my computer, and even the first screen when booting up was a complete mess... it looked like chunks had been taken out of all the letters. Once it rebooted to windows it froze and then the screen turned off right before it went to the logon screen. I booted into safe mode and it worked okay (except for the screen thing) and i did system restore, which didn't work. I then
-tried a different monitor
-reflashed my BIOS (same version, maybe try an earlier version)
-reset CMOS
-did Windows repair
nothing worked.
I then booted into safe mode and uninstalled my graphics card (an Nvidia 6600 GT running 84.25 drivers) (Im not sure exactly what version the drivers were) I then booted up windows regularly and the screen did not turn off, but the instant I tried to reinstall the drivers (ver 91.47) the computer screen would shut down, while (as far as i can tell) the computer kept running normally. I tried an older version of the drivers (91.31) but they did the same thing. An interesting note is that when check my display drivers (right click desktop, properties, settings, advanced, adapter, properties) it says VGAsave, and when I click on the resources tab I notice that there is a resource conflict with "PCI Standard PCI to PCI bridge" which might be causing my problem? Heres an interesting note: After my screen error occured, I installed windows again, on a seperate partition. Both versions of windows have the same resource conflict.
Another note: I tried to take a picture of my problem, but the screenshot doesn't even show the red lines/dots. I also checked the temprature of my computer, and I really don't know what it means, but here are the stats.
Temp1:25C (blue down arrow)
Temp2:32C ""
Temp3: -1C ""
HD0: 33C ""
HD1: 36C (Green Check mark)
Core: 40C (Green Check mark) at 41C turns into red up arrow... happens periodically
NOTE: I ran speedfan with my graphics drivers uninstalled.
Unfortuantly, I have no extra graphics card to swap mine out with to test to see if it is a hardware problem, which it might be *sigh*
Help with this would be greatly apprechiated!
