Default [Fixed] Explorer.exe problem after Norton SW install

When it all happened: I installed Norton SW 2004. During the install I got a warning from a "Bloodhound" infection. I clicked OK twice to get rid of it. SW finished installing. Then it all went bad.

Problem 1: When I startup I get an error message when XP is loading from explorer.exe "(0xc0000022)" and a system failure beep. Desktop is empty. I can start programs via Taskmanager (think the Ctrl-Alt-Del prgram name is that) and Run. I have done sfc /scannow, I have extracted explorer.exe from the XP CD and replaced the old one. Nothing works.

Problem 2: When I try to start from the XP CD to make a Repair, for some reason the comp doesn't find my RAID disks, even if it find them if i just let it pass the "press any key to start fron CD". The RAID shows both in BIOS and during booting.
If I try to run the XP CD from Safety Mode I get an error message about compatibility problem. When I run a Compatibilty check nothing show up wrong though.

So, basically I am stuck. I don't mind doing a fresh new install of XP. Mine is almost a year now, so it could be that time. I never had any problem with the comp finding my RAID before though, therefore I haven't tried to format C: yet, before I know what is getting wrong.

For your RAID drivers to show up you might want to try using the diskette that came with the drives which contains the SATA controller drivers.

1. Boot the Windows XP CD with Diskette ready.

2. Press F6 when prompted (look at bottom of screen where text contantly changes, white/greyish background).

3. When prompted again put the Diskette into the A: drive, select the correct driver for XP.

4. Hopefull the drivers will show.

Hope this helped!

SO how do you install SATA drivers then?

Don't remember how I did from start ..
Nevertheless, I have repaired from the XP CD before, and it worked.
I can't beleive that the only solution to repair my explorer.exe is to get
a diskette driver? Why does XP tells me there is an incompatibility when I
try to run Install from CD in Safe Mode for instance?
Is it any way to work around that?
