Default Need to boot my formated hard drive

Hello,

I recently did a complete format on a hard drive but I didn't realise until too late that I will need a boot disk.

I have trawled through the internet for a few hours and learnt that there is a lot I don't know about boot disks.

My PC doesn't have a floppy drive so I have to boot from a CD-Rom.

I am going to use XP pro, corp' ed. It doesn't boot from that!

Can somebody please tell me where I can download the software I need.

Thx

One more thing, while I am at it

I have two h'drives in my computer. I thought I'd just use the OS on the old hard drive and go from there, perhaps using the formatted h'drive for storage alone (if this works on a fully formatted disk), so I changed the master/slave pins. I did not change the cables. It did not work. Would it work if I changed the cables? Just curious - I want to use the one I formatted.

Thanks again.

Hi passthebuck, welcome to the PCHF!

Windows XP should boot from CD - unless it is the upgrade version.
Make sure the BIOS is set to boot of the CD-ROM first.

And in regards to the other hard drive...is this a hard drive from a previous computer? if so - it probably won't work as too much hardware will have changed.
