Default [Resolved] Problem driving me mad!

I have a bad problem which is driving me mad and I just dunno what is causing it. Ever since yesterday my PC has been freezing while playing games and just on desktop. It will freeze and I would have these vertical lines on my screen. Then sometimes all the colours and graphics will mess up and restart the computer on it's own. Sometimes the computer screen will just go black and reboot.

The funny thing is when in Safe Mode the computer is fine, so far it is anyway. I think I have tryed just about everything.

- Cleaned PC rid of dust and cleaned all the fans.

- Checked for Virus an Spyware.

- Unistalled things which I recently installed to see if it was any software.

- Changed graphics card drivers.

- Tryed System Restore - it wont let me restore it for some reason, always fails.

- Checked my temps which seem to be fine they are 40-41c and go to about 48-49 when playing games. I think that's ok anyway...

I am not sure if this is my graphics card messing up or not. I have not got another card to test to see if this is the problem.

Has anyone ever had this problem, or have any other ideas which I could try to sort this problem out...

Hi Kasper, I have previously had this issue. The reason why safe mode is working, is because it doesn't load all the drivers. It only loads essential parts of the computer so it gets to as stable a state of operation as possible.

Try uninstalling your graphics card drivers, reinstalling your chipset drivers and then reinstall your graphics card drivers again

Hi

Well I did managed to get another card. I took an old 64MB one out my brothers PC which I gave him a while back. PC been on a good 2 hours now and no freeze or anything. So I think it was the card, looks like I have to find more money now to get a new card.

Well I unistalled my old chipset drivers and display drivers. Then I put card back in and when I was reinstalling my chipset drivers it froze and rebooted itself again. So do you think this is more then likely the card? I am going to take it into computer shop so they can have a look at it too before I got and get a new card.

Yup, it does sound like the video card - probably overheating of the memory on the card is dying.
