Default my computer item display delay

I have a new gateway with a fresh xp media edition install, all drivers updated and still have to wait 3min for my computer to diplay the contents of my hard drives, 9n1 media devices.
I can do anything else I see fit, go online, load games, run any kind of software on my system. Untill I look for or browse the hard drive icons in my computer.

I have run disk defrag, antivirus scan, spyware scan, everthing runs fine untill I try to browse the hard drive.

I have partitioned my 500gb hard drive into four sections and can access any thing on every partition quickly after the inital browse delay (only after a start up or reboot does it give me a dely)hope this makes sense to you.

Hi tommycatt, welcome to the pchf!

It may be that your cd/dvd drive is having some issues - try unplugging it (while the computer is off) and see if you have the same problemw hen you log back into windows.
