I recently added a second user onto my computer and the second user deletes icons from the desktop that they don't use but that in turn deletes them from my desktop as well. Why does it do this? Is there any way to have completely seperate settings?

When there is 2 users, there is actually 3 folders that icons can go into...

There is 'rory' and 'newuser' and 'all users'

The icons that are being deleted are most likely in 'All Users'

To have a look, goto c:\documents and settings

In here should be the different folders for each username.

Ok, so should I move the icons in 'All Users' to 'Rory'?

If you don't want other users to delete the icons...yes.

One more question. Whenever I'm signed on to the new user and I try to open Internet Explorer it automatically opens Adobe Acrobat setup and it's getting really annoying. I already have it set it up. I tried just letting it run, I do so and then it says I have to restart. If I hit yes it restarts but the thing keeps popping up anyway. If I hit no, it just pops up again. How can I fix this?

hmm....the default home page may be pointing to a pdf file, or the acrobat installer..

i've never actually seen that before.

You could just make the other user a limited account rather than an administrator (because admin can delete icons whilst limited can't).

Then you wouldn't need to swap the icons to different folders.
