Question windows movie maker

hey
i think my windows movie maker is possessed or something.
i am having way too much trouble in windows movie maker 2.1. Anything i do in there causes it to hang and freeze, whether it be importing files, transitions, audio...it doesn't matter; just every click causes it to hang.
i opened task manager and clicked on processes and in the mem usage column, the numbers are higher than anything running on my pc. and when i close it, the mem on it just keeps rising until it disappears out of processes.
what could be causing this? i can't find anything on the web about it.
can you please help me?
thanks
fay

I have found that I can't have anything at all running when I am using movie maker. Mine still hangs terribly especially if I am getting towards the end of making a movie. I haven't checked my cpu usage when using it yet as I just put it down to my computer specs being rubbish.

Hi Fay!

You may be right that we had forgotten terribly sorry.

However, I'm not up on movie making, and I've never used any of the software that you need to use for it...perhaps one of the other techs will know something a bit more.

Have you tried lowering the computer's hardware acceleration setting?

Here's how to do it:
1.Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties on the menu.
2.Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced.
3.Click the Troubleshoot tab.
4.Move the Hardware Acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None, the Basic acceleration setting.
5.Click OK, and then click Close.

Hey
I lowered the hardware acceleration settings. Unfortunately, that didn't work either. It actually made it worse. There arent any kinds of error messages either. And it affected other things too like search on my computer. Do you think maybe updating the video driver might help. I'm not sure, just a suggestion. I mean it used to work normally. But, all of a sudden, it just starting acting weird on me. I dont know if its some kind of software that I installed or what.
Thanks
Fay
