Default Windows will not load

Hi, I have just put together a new pc,
M/board - Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9-RH
CPU - Athlon 64 3200
H/drive - 250G Samsung SATA 11

The problem I have is that windows will not load with my cable broadband connected. It will boot up to desktop fine when with the cable disconnected and then I have to insert the cable and the connection is fine. I think this will probably be a problem with a BIOS setting but I just don't know. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanx Doughnuts.

Welcome to PCHF Doughnuts!

Have you installed the drivers for your cable broadband correctly?

Im not very experienced in this area so you would be better off waiting until someone else comes along!

I don't believe there are any drivers for my external cable modem as I have been using this modem with my old pc for the last 2 years fault free. Also I am able to access the internet fine if I plug the cable from the modem to the pc after windows has loaded.

Thanx Doughswg

Hi doughnuts...look in the BIOS for something called PXE Boot or Network Boot

anything to do with LAN Cable Check or Network boot - disable. This could be causing some sort of problem.

If there's nothing like that in the BIOS - try flashing the bios.

Ok, I checked my Bios which was flashed today after installing windows and all I could find is as follows,
Onboard LAN function - Auto
Onboard LAN boot ROM - Disabled
Also legacy LAN is not selected as a boot device
I can't see anything else in BIOS or the manual that concerns network connections.

Thanx Doughnuts

that's really odd...

with that and your other power issue - i'd say you might have a faulty PSU or a faulty motherboard.

Please don't say that as I bought the lot in Poland and am not going to be going back untill May. The PSU was I guess a cheap 1 as it was supplied with the case. The computer does work fine thoe just with some annoying little nigles .

Thanx Doughnuts
