im using windows XP
intel pentium 4 2.8Ghz
384Mb RAM
it seems to take forever to find the USB devices and iv changed the bios so it doesn't, but still it tries to find them
any help much appreaciated

im using windows XP intel pentium 4 2.8Ghz 384Mb RAM it seems to take forever to find the USB devices and iv changed the bios so it doesn't, but still it tries to find them any help much appreaciated |

too add, when i FINALLY log onto windows it works BEAutifully all the icons come up almost instantly and everything works well, iv ran a full virus and spyware scan using norton and microsoft defender
as before any help much appreaciated |

Welcome to PC Helpforum! What's taking so much time to start-up? Do you see the Windows screen, or your BIOS screen? Or maybe a black screen? Have you tried starting up with only the necessary stuff connected to your PC? Both outside and maybe inside? Blue |

wen i press the power button it does the 1st few checks ( HDD FDD CD0 fine but the USB devices it takes forever to find so i tried to set it so the bios doesnt look for them tihnking it would skip that bit but it doesnt

navigate to device manage and see if there are any errors.

nuthing appears to have errors all the usb devices seem fine,
but the bios keeps trying to find the "generic USB Storage 1: CFC 2:MMC 3:MSC 4:SMC USB device" and thats what takes forever and a day lol but after it gets past that *cough*3hours later*cough* it seems to be ok |
