Default Windows XP Pro installed twice on C:

Help!!!
I was trying to "reformat" my C: drive because of some problems I was having. Instead of "repair or restore" I enter "new install" now I have two OS on my c: and can't figure out how to re-format my C: drive and then re-install only one OS Win XP.
Can anyone give me step by step directions on getting this accomplished?
Thank you,
Lupa
