Hi Jayne, welcome to the PCHF!

What do you mean "frontpage"? What stage of windows?

Hi

It comes up with a box saying 'Frontpage' when I try to access Excel and when I get messages saying 'updates' are available and try to down load them.

It goes to 'Windows installer' then it says 'Please wait while we try to config Frontpage' then it finally comes up with this :

Microsoft Office XP with Frontpage

The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk that is not available.

Insert the disk and press OK

Use source
Microsoft Office XP with Frontpage

Then it gives me this

Microsoft Office XP with Frontpage

The path with Frontpage cannot be found, verify that you have access to this location and try again. Or try to find the installation package PROPLUS.MSI in a folder that you can install

If I try to do this it gives me

Error code 1706 set up cannot find the required files. Check you connection to the network or CD-ROM. For other potential solutions to this problem see
C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftOffice\Office10\1033\SETU P.HLP

When I come out of it it then gives me Fatal Error

Am really stuck

Thx for reply hope this explains

Jayne

Hi Jayne, that helped alot

Check out this link here...it describes your exact problem and has a resolution.
You receive an "Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files” error message when you repair or install a feature in Office
