Default Black screen at boot up Win 2000

So I formatted one of my PC's last night and installed Win 2000 on it, it booted up after into windows like normal. So I shut it down and hooked up my other PC to go download the drivers for the network, video and sound. I burned them onto a cd and hooked the PC back up. This time I pressed the power button but all I get is a black screen? The hdd activity light stays solid red and does not flash at all. I don't see any startup screens, ram counter, nothing at all, then eventually the monitor says no input detected and turns off. Then about 10 seconds later the PC shuts off. The PC doesn't even sound like it is booting up, all I can hear is the CPU fan and that is it. I tried to open the cd drive, but it won't even open? It's like it isn't getting power? What could be wrong with it?

Hey there , is the cables all connected proply nothing slightly out of place?.

If you can try the HDD in another machine and the same thing happens, you'll at least know it is the fault of the drive.

I checked over all the cables and they look good. I'll try putting the hdd in my other machine to see if it will boot. In the mean time what else could be the issue?

Hi Bainer, welcome to the PCHF!
It could be 3 things...power supply, motherboard or BIOS.

Easiest thing to try is the BIOS, if you reset it (this changes on what kind of motherboard you have ??)
