Default Memory Problem

Hi,

I've been using Azureus fine for many months but recently after about 5 mins of use it would cause my pc to reboot.

I changed to Utorrent and my PC doesn't seem to reboot after 5 mins (it may have rebooted once). I have now noticed that my available memory rapidly decreases, It seems to go down by 100k or so a second. If I close Utorrent the memory will go back to approx 270000k available.

I've tried disabling my Zone alarm virus scan and firewall but it doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas what could be causing my problem? I can't think of anything that has changed on my machine recently.

I have fully checked for spyware and viruses and I can't find anything.

Machine:
XP PRO SP2
AMD 2400+
MoBo - Gigabyte GA-7N400-L1 (Nforce2 Ultra 400)
512MB DDR
64mb Geforce4 MX440 AGP 8x

Thanks in advance

Hi Ross, welcome to the PCHF!

can you please follow the Prework link in my signiture, and post the resulting logs back. It may be a virus that your current system didn't pick up.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I've done most of the what is in your prework post apart from ewido which i'll give a go now.

My Hijackthis logs are clean as far as I can tell.

I have a feeling that my problem is hardware related, dodgy ram most probably.

I've also used PC tools Spyware doctor which reports clean........

Nothing major to report from ewido, just a few tracking cookies.

Hijackthis log......

UPDATE:

PC seems to reboot when browsing myspace profiles even if torrent client isn't running. I've not had it crash whilst browsing any other site.

So....
running azureus causes PC to reboot.
Viewing myspace causes PC to reboot.

PC appears to be running fine apart from said reboots, no slow down or any other issues.

First:
1. Overheating?
2. PSU enough power?
3. Are you overclocking?
4. What version of Java are you using?

I reccomended taking your case off and checking for any dust , as this can be one of the main problems , although it could also be the ones above.

1. Aida32 says CPU = 35 degrees (steady) - approx 39/40 degrees under load.
2. 500w PSU (i think?)
3. Not overclocking
4. 5.0 update 6

PC/heatsink dust free.

PC just crashed whilst browsing ebay, so doesn't seem to be related to any kind of plugin, flash/shockwave etc... although I did have Utorrent open at the time so could be a memory leak?

too many things to take in to consideration lol
